Chapter History

On October 15, 1898, our nine founders realized their dream and created an organization of enduring friendships. 

In December of 1975, women from varied collegiate backgrounds continued this dream and organized the Tidewater Alumnae Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha.

Since October of 1976, when the Tidewater Alumnae Chapter received its national charter, we have grown into a membership of 30-50 sisters. The Alumnae Group has won several honors over the years including the Alumnae Crown Chapter Award.  

Several individual members have been recognized with Certificates of Merit and have received a Zeta Honor Ring. Members have served on National Council and the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation. 

Additionally, members have continued to serve as chapter advisors to our collegiate sisters as well as held the position of District President.
